LIVE HAPPIER
LITTLE BY LITTLE
the science of well-being
This blog is about…
-
simple new strategies to live a happier life.
-
effective habits that will increase your happiness level.
-
gaining a concrete understanding of what happiness actually is
-
learning what is worth pursuing to achieve a fulfilling life.
But why should I care about happiness? Of course it’s nice to feel happy, but that’s not all. Studies show that happy people are…
More creative
Living longer
More tolerant
More open for new things
More intelligent
Better in social situations
Furthermore…
Based on an empirically supported theory from researcher Barbara Fredrickson,
happiness provides us with more than just good feelings.
Positive emotions build our physical, social and intellectual recourses,
which then prepare us to face challenging situations.
Why I started this blog
Hi, I am Jannek
I have a passion for psychology and am especially interested in the new field of positive psychology. My first encounter with the subject was through the podcast “The Happiness Lab” hosted by Laurie Santos. It was revolutionary to me that happiness is actually being empirically studied. I believe that all of our actions are ultimately aimed at achieving happiness. Everyone seeks to attain a state of satisfaction and pleasure, or at least tries to avoid pain in their lives.
Scientifically examining the principles behind these states and how we can achieve them is, in my opinion, one of the most worthwhile pursuits. This is why I have set up this blog. I want to share what I have learned to gain a better understanding of the subject myself and, of course, help others improve their lives.
